good story. .today I was in a tournament and was up 4000 chips. i got a little bored so held a pair of a's I had and lost 2500 that hand. I chased that mistake and landed at around 750. the BB was now 100.
i kept waiting for a decent all in hand and had to fold blind twice, im now at 500. I got Q9 unsuited and said what the heck and a guy with pocket A's matched my bet and i was lucky enough to pull out a straight Q high and get ba ck over 1200. I did a little cofee housing by saying "man I was hoping you would put me out of my misery" but thinking the whole time that im going to get back to a respectable pile.
I folded two hands and was lucky enough to get pocket Q's and did a little more coffee housing "come get it" in which a sucker tried to with a garbage unsuited hand. I'm now over 2400 and started to play my game again by seeing flops with good cards and getting more chips out when the odds were in my favor.
well long story short, I found my way on to the final table with 40,000 in chips. I belive I was in 4th or 5th at this point. I continued to play and stuck to my game and was sitting there with 160,000 in chips a whopping 50,000 in chips over 2nd. with 5 players left and such short stacks surving and having such a huge lead I decided to let those guys knock each other out and they did.
I battled for first for a little while but caved in I think I was just so happy to make it that far considering I had just 500 with 100 BB and now had over 160,000. But being complacent cost me first and I made a playafter the flop I knew I shouldnt have and lost taking home 2nd in the free roll.
The sad part about this is I was drinking and had a friend over I was talking to and trying to impress. I think this made me play better by folding and bluffing more than usual, I really didnt know I had it in me. so I'm not sure I can play cards this good all the time, but I've only been playing 2 weeks so maybe in a month or so I can start playing in money tournaments.
500 bal. . 100 bb. . he takes home 2nd & the money!. . .dont ever give up!!
